Peter's and Paul's Fortress is located on a small island only a short distance from the hotel. It is possible to visit the cathedral in which the remains of the last Tsars are buried, and to see the cells in which Lenin's brother was held before being condemned to death.
For those guests wishing to shop, the main shopping area - Nevsky Prospekt - is only a short walk from the hotel and provides a mixture of the latest haute couture and traditional Russian grocery shops - which, in turn, give you a real taste of life in St Petersburg.
One of the most popular times for visiting the city is for the "White Nights" period in the early summer. During these months it never gets dark and the main bridges are opened for an additional hour each night to allow ships to pass up and down the River Neva.
In the winter months the famous Kirov ballet performs at the Mariinsky Theatre and provides a great attraction to the city. A programme of concerts, operas and ballet continues through the summer months.

DININGS & BARS: Davidov's, a fashionable Russian restaurant, has an excellent reputation. Located on the ground floor adjacent to reception, Davidov's offers an array of exciting Russian cuisine accompanied by a wide range of fine wines. Overlooking St. Isaac's square, the restaurant is divided by flowing linen and crystal chandeliers, which illuminate the local and distinctive Lomonosov porcelain.
If you would prefer a lighter snack, or would simply like to savour the best caviar in Russia, there is also a very good vodka and caviar bar in Davidov's, where even the most fainthearted will find it hard to resist sampling Russia's traditional fayre. There are over 80 assorted Vodka's to try, so do allow plenty of time for a visit!
Every Weekend experience our "Russian Table". Plates of salads, pickles and treasures from the land and sea are available from the buffet. This is followed by Pelmeni, then your choice of main course before completing your meal with dessert and coffee. Beer is served throughout with 250g of vodka or half Bottle of Champanskoye per person.
The elegant bar, located off the main lobby, is an oasis of tranquillity. At the end of March 2001 the bar was opened after refurbishment to the highest level of comfort and style.
